Entry Level Picturer

My new camera came today. I can't wait to use it. I have decided to load up a bunch of photos from here to share with others when I am over there. Picturers nowadays make, after all, great photo albums, too.

Maybe I'll be able to get some shots like this one with my new Picturer. This shot makes like a strong wind against a snow drift----it just blows me away:

Rather than reveal my own CSIing conclusions, I will invite each of you to come up with some of your own. I am sure you will see some things I have not. There is only one CSI characteristic that I lay claim to, and that is simply because, well---As JFK says on that ill-fated Kennedy parody, "The First Family," that came out just prior to the assassination: "Because it's my ball, that's why."

Look for it at 5:10

That looks like a black-billed magpie. American distribution is mostly the northwest. Could that be, say, Montana?

BLUE TSG: OH MY GAWD!!! You have NO idea how wonderful it is to hear those words uttered by any person other than my sister, Karen and my father and my friend, Barbara Olsson! No idea! No idea! NO IDEA!!! lol

This has been a family tradition since the day we got the album when I was a young boy in Salt Lake City. Only one other person beside my family---Barbara---knows this "code."

Thank you, Blue. Thank you so much for saying, "The rubber swan....is mine."

Sigh.....

SOMEWHERE JEAUX: YES!!!! That is the only thing I lay claim to. Yes! That! The yellow billed variation occurs only in one place on earth: The San Joaquin Valley. You are so astute. Your CSIing ability rivals my own and I bow down, Joe. I bow down in homage (French pronunciation here)---wow. I'm not worthy. I'm not worthy!

You pegged it. You nailed it. You are the fuh-shizzle.

Any magpie occurring east of the Sierra Nevada, Cascades, etc., is the black billed version.

You are not only Awe. You are some.

Picturers are an excellent way to collect memories...say in the Skylane 82 Alpha Delta from Oregon to Central Valley, California and then back to Oregon....oh! and then it is a bad idea to delete those photos by "formatting" the picturer's memory card!!

At Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 11:58:00 PM PDT , Blogger Jacob said...

SUMMS: That was so bad, Dude. You had all those pictures that your pricturer took and then you deleted them all when you formatted your card. Don't ever do that again!

But again, I must say it---Don't ever change! I love you, woman, Man.

Gawpo!! You're leaving in 2 days!

You're leaving on a jet plane...don't know when you'll be back again...

Are you going to be able to check in on stuff while you're gone? What is the internets availability like in Sicily??? OMg...I am so excited that you are going. I can't wait to hear all about it!

If you do have access to the internets in that lovely country of our anscestors, you should register at this site! Or just update this place...that's good too. It's just that that site has a map and it's kinda cool.

AWESOMEWHEREJOE: At every turn, pan corner, you delight. Example #873: I love the word "acolyte." Apart from beneath Melissa Ethridge's eccliastic skin, you just don't hear that word used much.

ARMALICIOUS: Well, the hotel we're staying at in Palermo had three reviews, two of which complained about the sketchy internet service. But you know what? I don't got no laptop, so it don't really gonna matter much. The internet cafe scene is hopping, I am told and will take advantage of those. So, to answer your question: Yell HESS, I'll be checking in! lol

ARMALICIOUS: Thanks for the link. Haven't clicked it yet. Just ran a load to the dump and have to do some other things prior to departure Sat morning 11:45 from PDX. But I'll click it tonight. Thank you, Dear Friend Amander! xo, G

CHEENDRUH!: Yay!!!! I won second place? Cool! Tote! BAM!!! It was fun. I may even have to try my hand(s) at it again next time.

Juni and I had a great time at Mundo tonight. I didn't bring the guitar and boy---there was some great talent at the open mic. You need to hear "Unkle Nancy." That dude is awesome! Saw Kulie Jay there, too. We had Vietnamese Veggie rolls and Tempe Fries and finished off with Pumpkin Cheesecake and Apple Crisp. Yummers all the way 'round.

Thanks again.

LA KATIE: Your picturer does you quite fine indeed. My journeys to your place confirm this. Love the owl picture! I took hundreds of pictures at the Forum yesterday. The Coliseum
is truly colossal.

LISAOCEANDREAMUH!: HA! That was a good one. Did Dino do that song? I can sure hear it playing out in my testa. I too have been really bad about getting 'round to the peeps. But we know that that is all just fine. Si? Si!

Baccia! G

Ps: As always, I love what Atul and Purvi come up with. That is so amazing. What they see is, of course, what it is.

This has been so much more than a vacation. It is a pilgrimage to sheer beauty as well as an investigation as well as a spiritual renewal. Staying with the monks of Sant'Anselmo---monks from all over the world who come here to study---amazing!

SCARLET: Ciao, Scarlet!!! Welcome to here. The picturer has tons to share. But I do not as yet have the means to upload and publish. Not really comfortable with "entering" the computers available. I will get the skinny on that and report back.

NESSA: Ciao, Bella! Yes, full of sensibilities. But you should try getting directions from an Italian. Now that ain't so sensible. lol

Ciao di Gawpy!

SHEILA: Today Rome. Tomorrow---Koo-Buh!

Maybe I will even toss in THREE coins for you.

SNAVILICIOUS: Well, let's see.....you know how big time is, right? Well then, I miss you BIG TIME! Xs and Os your way. Mwuah!

PAUL: Is this good enough for you?---the computer I am using is in the basement floor of the Benedictine monastery of Sant'Anselmo, in the Aventine, located in the Piazza dei Calvieri di Malta. I'm just going to take a stab at the date of manufacture of the joint, but seems to me I heard something like 17th Century. Yeah, your point exactly----it's new. Speaking of what one does in Italy, here's all I have to say: MY FEET HURT!!! LOL

Spent today with Louis, a Frenchman who grew up mostly in England, and who has so much knowledge about Bernini and Borromini that it puts why I ever graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Arts (History, no less) to shame.

Vespers was awesome tonight.

Ciao, Bello!

SHOOZIE: You actually SAW that happen?! I cannot imagine the horror.

And thank you! It is beyond my wildest dreams, this trip so far.

ANISSA: Ciao! e benvenuto! I have no idea if I got "welcome" right. But welcome, all the same. No. Not yet---I have been eating here at the monastery and glomming onto those wonderful 4 Euro sandwiches vended in the carts at places like the coloseo or Piazza di Venezia. Yesterday I did go to a ristorante with a friend. For primi, I had a short shell pasta with a tomato/bacon sauce. Secundi was trippa---huge chuncks of cow stomach, Baby! Yeah!!! lol

Oh, CLAIRE: Ciao, Bella! So you are a fan of this pasta e fagioli, too, eh? If I do get into any, I will be sure to let you and Anissa know about it. I have no idea where I will go today. The Pantheon was incredible.

Dear Gawpy
I googled the 'joint' you are staying in, and WOW..!
I am green with envy, it is stunningly beautiful.
I imagine the atmosphere makes it all the more so.Vespers in such a historic place must be something to experince. I also learned that
Sant'Anselmo was once the Archbishop of Canterbury, and had a devout mother, and a father who did not want him to become a monk.
I love coming here, it encourages me to seek beyond the everyday..

Trippa..!!!
You ate trippa..???

Holy cow's stomach, Gawpoman! My little bean soup's got nothing on you. ;)

Never having been big on meat, I would pretty much get the only chicken dish offered. Then...one day I asked if I could have two primis. "You may have whatever you want," I was told. LOVE those Italians. :) I was all over the pasta then!

And those sandwiches rock!

So glad you're having fun.

SHEILA: The entire floor of the sanctuary is entirely made of an entire mosaic. I stare at it from the choir stall during "lodi" and the liturgy of the word, and then more closely when we file out for the liturgy of the eucharist. I think of the person(s) who placed each and every single little piece in its current place. I thank them before God. You can read that both ways. And both work.

Guess what I had AGAIN tonight at dinner in the Jewish Ghetto?

ANISSA: Boy do I feel dumb. I had forgotten you had already been here and then worried about my blunder over pasta e fagiole.

Wanna hear something funny? The first time in a ristorante (three days ago), I said to my new friend who lives here, "Hey, I could get the Bucatini all'Amatriciana and the lentil soup." He quickly said rather confused, "But that would be two primi." Sort of like, "Are you nuts?" So I went for the tripe as a secondi.

Tonight, my other new friend who lives here ordered Flori di Zucca e Carciofe Fritti for a primi. She had Saltimbocca alla Romana for her secondi and I went for the-----Trippa.

SOMEWHERE JOE: I'm sorry. Did you say something? Hmmm. That's funny. Could'a sworn you said something. Must have been the low-intensity evening floods trained on the marble pillars placed by some bygone Romans. Or maybe the skin-warm warmth of sweet smelling air after the rain sprinkles from earlier today that now stand huddled in isolated shallow black pools mirroring the night.

ANISSA: Yeah, I'm all over those primi. And they're cheaper, too. I think I'll break from tradizzione and just DO it! It's not like I have to live with these people, after all. It's just a matter of not being killed by any of them when crossing the street.
