Never Again
Last December I passed up a free ticket to any Alaska Airline destination. They called and called and called for a volunteer to give up their seat. But I did not want to inconvenience Mr. and Mrs. Gawpo who would have had to drive through darkness at a late hour to pick me up here at Sacramento International. Yes, I said here. Typing is not easy from the iTouch. But I have some time because when they called for that volunteer to give up a seat, I was all over it, having sworn back in December NEVER AGAIN to pass up such an opportunity. I called my friend, Amy and adjusted the pickup time. Got 16 bucks in meal money. Now I have to decide where to go. They do fly to Mexico. Hmmm...
Please feel free: Where would YOU go?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
THIS JUST IN!
Ok.
So.
Cindy at the counter thanked me for giving up my seat. She extended her hand to indicate the girl whose life I had saved. (some inconvenience.) The young lady smiled her appreciation. Her father shook my hand. I felt great. Got a free ticket, after all. Helped a young teen. So there I was with time to kill. And kill I did. Got talking with a very nice couple about picturers because guess what I was doing the whole time ? Got some great shots of a jackrabbit out on the taxiway, even. Yeah. Cool, huh? Even got some great shots of my jet taking off. Yes. MY jet. Without me ON it. So here I sit. The first flight was at 1:15. The flight I missed, 2:40. The next flight ( the LAST) is at 7:28. And it is overbooked....
Stand by for some stand by.
Sigh........

ITALY...but then you've already done that. SPAIN...maybe you've done that, too. Hmmm...Mexico sounds good. Just don't go to Juarez. I wrote something about that town a few days ago.
Wherever you go, just know I'll be jealous!
SCARLETA: Well, since Alaska does not go to Europe yet, Italy is out. But I would love to go to Sayulita. And know that I will take you with me in mind y corazon!
Hawaii. I've never been, but it sounds lovely. Not nearly as cheap as Mexico, alas. Have fun with the planning, G.
I'd go to Oregon and visit my son and watch him hurl the hammer at a track meet or wait till fall and go see him play football.
ANISSA: You make a tempting point. Paradise? Or paradiso? What's a boy to do?
Oh, CLAIRE: McMinnville? Or a stopover in Queretero? I
do see your point.
Hawaii. And i know where there is a floor you can nap on rent free.
Hope you have a good book birthday boy!!!!!!!!!XXXXOOOOOO......
and....my destination is
...AMSTERDAM......
I'm leaving May 14th to that very place!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!
What a nice thing to do. I would bet you are ready to come home and just put your feet up. You'll have to post some of your pictures when you get the chance and tell us all about your trip.
I am getting the feeling that someone has had a recent birthday.
Well... A very Happy Birthday and may you have many, happy returns!
( Let's see... that's 38, correct?
( heh heh.... )
ok, before i can weigh in with an opinion as to destination i need to know what the options are because ya know normally i wouldn't ever say go to omaha but if you have to choose between say omaha and maybe downtown baghdad, i'd vote for omaha.
Fort Myers of course.
Come on down, I know a whoopie spot
where the beer is cold and the sand is hot...
Well you could fly into Eugene! I'd pick you up....
Seeings how I already have my ticket to Toronto I think I would have to chose a warm sandy destination.... the desert maybe??
Loved my last trip to Palm Desert... Hurry home and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I owe you a fabulous homemade birthday treat~~
what a sucker!!!

Please tell me you're not STILL at the airport.
You must have decided to go to Iceland or something!! I hope you take lots of pictures. :)
PS
It was just plane nice of you to give up your seat like that. And what a bonus that you get to wing it and pick any destination you like! I bet you could have squeezed onto the plane anyway, but it might have sucked trying to find legroom. You did a bang-up job making that decision. Being crammed in a bulkhead would blow.
I guarantee you that no one has ever made that exact combustion engine pun before. ^_^
Happy Birthdaaaaay to You!
Where would I go ... New York City.
Where should you go? ... Somewhere warm with waves kissing the shore and magical cocktails. Somewhere gold and blue. Somewhere. That's where you should go. (Somewhere is second on my list.)
Happy Birthday, Monsieur Gawpo! It's hard turning 30, ain't it?? : )
Love ya!
QUILLY: Hmmmm........
MS. VICCANCE: I made it home. Can't wait to see the pics from Amsterdarn. YAAAHOOOO!!!! xo, G
BUTCH: Yes. 38. That is correct (choke...cough...cough.) Fifty-four, actually. Pics to come. Thank you for the well wishings, Butch. Smile...
LIMERS: It's all relative, isn't it? Very good point. Omaha would be paradise compared to Baghdad, no doubt. But if we left the latter out of the quotient, then maybe a trip to Quill-land would be in order. Or Mexico. Or Boston. Or Nuevo York. Or Washington DeeCee.
SOMEWHERE JOE: Or Fort Meyers. Yes. I did look, of course. Alaska does not fly into Fort Meyers. Orlando and Miami, yes. But I am drumming my fingers on the counter top and thinking. Really, really hard....drum, drum, drum. It is inevitable, after all, that I do at least at some point go----somewhere, Joe.
CHEESY: But I am much too heavy. You would strain your back. And maybe even your front. I counter recommend picking me up at all costs. I am home, by the way, and I will take you up on the treat. My next day off is the 8th. You beach bound by any chance???
CHEENDRUH!: Sucker of all suckers am I. And suckingly proud of it, I must admit. Slurp...
ANISSA: Nope. Not at no airport no more, dear friend. Home after two back-to-back shifts of work and no end in sight. Again. As the weather improves, though, I will regain some sanity and take time off to fly places. The folks are headed to the San Juans and I am looking for a way to join them late April. Cheers! G
CANDACIA: Iceland? Noooooooo. But I do hear that there is a girl behind every tree there.
CANDACIA: Leave it to you to leave some sort of RECIPROCATING pun out of the mix when you have already JETTED over for some other material while wearing some TURBINE on your head.
COOPER: Hello! Thank you for singing me Happy Birthday, Coops. I could hear it. And I do happen to know from experience that you have a VERY lovely voice. I can see from your ample hints that you are suggesting I fly into Miami and then take a puddle jumper back over to Somewhere. Very clever. Second on your list? I have never been to New York City. I have never been to the Smith(nor even the Jones)sonian. Those have a bit more pull than Mexico. Though, it sounds so simple, I just have to go. Still, somewhere sounds better than any other in so many ways.....
SARAH!!!: I was thinking about you so much today and lookie!---you peeked in. And yes, twenty-four years ago it was very hard turning 30. Thank you for dropping by. Loves to you and Urk. xoxoXO! G
This just in under the wire -- Happy Birthday! (Of course here in Hawaii it isn't even 8 p.m., so you'd have a lot of celebrating time left!)
I will have to issue you a raincheck... got a Sunday off anytime this month??
Welcome home btw!
Well, we all know that no good deed goes unpunished, don't we G? All things considered though, you got a good deal - you got a pic of a jackrabbit on the runway. Can't wait to see it. See???? I've got my priorities straight. You can go anywhere but jackrabbits on runways???? Cool.
Ah, Alaska...yes, that would make it a little difficult as it's not so close to Europa. :)~
Mexico it is then?
Life ain't "living" unless you take a chance now and then Gawpo. That was a very nice thing you did.
G
You must go where your heart desires most.
Close your eyes and be true to yourself.
The first placename that comes out of your mouth is the place.
I am emailing you a "what about could..." stay tuned.
Love,
G
