Pacific Storm

There was nothing pacific about it. Last Thursday we got hit with gusts exceeding 100 mph on the headlands here on the rugged, rocky, rock 'n rollin' Oregon coast. Why, it blew so hard that, that, that, I lost a lens. I have been going around like this for days and either no one notices, or (more likely) they don't want to say anything. It's sort of like shaving half your moustache. Or maybe one eyebrow. No one says anything. Not even my eyes. The remaining lens lost its twin, a blended progressive bifocal, yet it carries out its mission without----batting an eye. I can see far away; I can read the small print. One lens. Again, what comes to mind but Gold Member's quizzical remark when he reflexively mused: "Hey. I schpeek Dutch. Iszint dat veerd?" Hey, we can both see.......

Dat is pretty veerd!

I hate losing a lens.

Last night my glasses got mangled when my husband threw me to the floor and ground my face into it. But we were doing self-defense and he fixed my glasses, so ees ok.

I don't want to frighten you, but I think maybe someone might be monitoring you. There seems to be some kind of recording device stuck to your shoulder. No, wait! Don't look now.

I believe it's what is known, in ocular circles, as a "sympathetic response." That's the way we're made.

Cindra, MuNKi felt pretty bad about it all. He would never do something like that on purpose. He puts me on a pedestal. (because he can see up my skirt better that way ^_^ ) No, really, though, he wouldn't, LOL!

Gawpo, I say you should go the eyepatch/Piratey route. Arrrr, Matey!
What's that? You say yer Starboard porthole's been pillaged? Sink the buggers what made off with it!

Nibby: It's a Dutch accent, not German. I will have to work on it. The way you can tell is, when the Germans say "yes," they pronounce it "YAH." But when the DUTCH say it, it's pronounced, "YAH." See? But I said it the German way and that's what confused you. Sorry 'bout that.

Candace: I'm that you, as well as MuNKi, are familiar with the saying, "You do as you train." Defensive tactics are vital to the work. The grinding of the face into the floor cannot, therefore, be avoided. And we all believe you when you say you were practicing DTs. Uh-huh. Sure. No really, we believe you. Honest. We do. Rrrriiiiggghhhhtttt............

Joe: Yeah, I wondered that. Having the one corrected eye pick up the slack for the unassisted one worked great. Until I needed that second one to focus on the basketball court on Wednesday night when the Trail Blazers played Houston. From my perspective up in the forty-buck seats, Yao Ming was very tall and very fuzzy.

Cindra AND Candace: One more banter and I was going to ask the both of you if you wanted to just go get a room. Sheesh....(and HA!)

Candace: Oooops. That should have read, "I'm SURE that you...." Trying to multi-task.
