He Turned 78 Today---Happy Birthday, Pa

Ain't no way he'd make it past the Senate hearings. But there are good and honorable reasons for that. Here's my father at work at a recent pro tem gig in Manteca. I'm puff-chestedly proud of my dear 'ol dad. We still do some good Auggie Doggie and Doggie Daddy schtick. He's especially good with the "My son, my son" line.

Please join me in wishing my father a very happy 78th. He doesn't look a day past 77.

Happy birthday to a lion of a man! The pride of the pride. (And, I suspect, a pussycat of a dad). I admire a guy who loves to cook and has a few cuts on his fingers.

You can pick your friends... you can pick your nose... But you can't pick your friends' nose! Well unless it is your b~day G~daddy! You did a fairly good job on raising that spawn of yours. We all kinda sorta like him... just a little. I'll bet YOU have some stories to share eh?

Hope you had cake and licked your fingers... well after you washed them from the nose excavation! Enjoy your moments with the kiddo.
Cheesy....

BUTCH, QUILLY, LIMERS: I so conveyed. He so smiled.

SCARLET and SHEILA, MOB: Very accurate CSI'ing, Scarleta and Sheeler. And from his father he got his schtick. I studied at the feet of masters!

SOMEWHERE JOE: Good studying, Joe. The cuts are actually all from shaking crab. Many people will back their crab prior to cooking. I never do that. And one reason is---you can cut your fingers by holding onto the critters and then whacking them against the edge of the galvanized cleaning table. Nerts to that. But he will cook them whole for a couple recipes, one being the cioppino. The "butter" inside the shell provides a lot of the flavor and you don't want to loose that gooey stuff from the gods.

Oh, CLAIRE: You don't know the half of it. You are so right on the money. The man can play like no other child. And this apple sits at the base of the trunk, by the way.

CHEESEDOODLE: Can you say Pineapple Upside Down Cake? It was birthday-worthy deelish, too. Mom made it. I wish I had a nickel for every time my father quoted the nose-picking saying. You'd love the man. He would nose excavate with you, I'm sure. That would be so speial! Of course, I'd join in.

LEESUH OCEANDREEMUH!: I love my dad. Can you tell?

BLUE, TSG: You got it! It is actually from a bit that Mel Brooks does in his Hitchcock spoof, High Anxiety. The scene takes place at the San Francisco Airport, just outside the doors, on the sidewalk. Mel plays Doctor Richard H. Thorndike (the H is for Harpo; his mother liked the Marx Brothers). The chauffeur who comes to pick him up and who becomes Brooks' sidekick, Brophy, is an amateur photographer (like me) and throughout the film his photography comes into play and becomes quite significant to the outcome of the plot. At the airport, he starts snapping off a series of shots that show Brooks frozen in all manner of funny poses. Now you have it. The REST of the story. We do this Brophy/Thorndike routine every time we see each other. Since I got the new picturer, I can snap off the frames much faster.

I think you're getting pecarino as a wedding gift. Find any yet?

Happy Birthday Sr. Although I don't know you I'm sure you're a fer-wicken cool guy.

Now Mr. Gawpo, today I was dealt such a mental blow that I feel like a two legged frog trying (and failing) to learn to dog paddle!

You've left me to rot alone in the center that is Lincom.

I expect a full report on my email by monday.
