It's A Small World After All

sorry, folks....comments were disabled. thx 2 sheila, MOB!

So one day I go to Blue's blog (it always seems to begin with Blue's blog) and I see this person leaving comments which appear interesting to me and I go to her page and her page is called Lisaoceandreamer and I really like that name and when I get to the page I am so totally drawn in by what she has to say and what she takes pictures of and so we start to leave comments on each other's pages and before you know it, we wind up on each other's blog rolls and then we are emailing and then one day I get an email telling me that she and her hubby, G and she are thinking quite strongly about coming up to Oregon for a little vacation and that they hoped that, while here, they would be able to visit a since-childhood friend of Lisa's and his wife and if she and G and I could all hook up for a visit, well, that would be very nice and I agreed and so I figured that her friends probably lived far away like maybe down in Roseburg or maybe even in Medford (barely in the state at all) or maybe way over in La Grande or Bend or Burns or Rome or French Glenn or Crane or Gladstone or Mist or Chemult or Clem or Drain or Post or Paulina or Dayville or Condon (not "m") or Metolius or Tumalo or Wagontire or Fossil or Bly or Shady Cove or John Day or The Dalles (one of only a couple cities whose names include a definite article like that, so I just had to use it in this sentence), or any number of other Oregon cities, so I just went ahead and told her the "town" I live in---which is really not a town at all, simply a rural area that shares the zip code that is housed in the Post Office that is housed in the last vestige of a town, the little ________ Store---and she wrote me back and said: "That's where my friends live. Their last name is _______." So I wrote back and said, "Oh! My! GAWD!!! You don't mean _____ and ____ __________!, do you?" And she said, "Oh! Her! GAWD!!! too" because yes, those ARE her friends.

_____ and _____ _________ live less than two crow-flying miles from my house. And I know them. And they know me. And Lisa and I got huge goosebumps. And we are amazed.

I've been wanting to comment here but there was no way to do it. Now I can tell you your post gave me a serious case of deja vu! How odd and mysterious....heehee!
I talked to G last night(he's still away) and told him about fishing with you..and when I mentioned salmon too...well let's just say I think he will probably come home and start going through all his!

Oh and Mary Timme said her uncle used to be mayor of Newport.

Hugs and kisses!

LISAOCEANDREAMUH!: We have all been thinking of G and his Papa. Just want you to know it. Why on earth would you feel like you've been there before? Gee, I wonder. lol

Late September through October is when the fall Chinook run is. I have all gear. FYI.

Now I need to go to Mary Timme and see if it was Mark Jones or that redheaded guy, Mark Colson. You have to be named Mark to get the job here. Or be able to change it within 90 days. I don't remember any others.

LIMERS: You've been to Wagontire? Even I haven't been to Wagontire. I envy you. I like dem apples. There is an airport (dirt strip) at Owyhee. Want to go there. And to the Annual Mosquito Festival in Paisley.

PAM AIRES: Hooty Hoo!!! Ha! I had almost forgotten. And guess what??? I used it today with my sister on the phone. And then with my mother. And then later with my father. We use it every time we hear the other one answer: "Hooty Hoo!" "Oh, Hi. What's happening?" Yes, P.A. I do love Lisa too.

Oh, CLAIRE: Ain't life grand? So awesome, these friends. You too.

Pam and I share something very special with the saying from Gomer Pyle. AND she has the word ARIES in her blog name. We cool!

LIMERS: You rode your bicycle across the whole dang country!?! Wowzers. At least all the way to Wagontire? Did you pop out on one of our beaches? Did you touch a wave? Tell me, tell me!!!

ARM: Yes, I heap liberal amounts of Manda Whip on my blog. Oooo, Baby.

BAZZER: Yes, Bazza. We are talking CSI. Just ask Blue about my photograph assessments of the pics that she posts. Thank you for ruling out my guess. I'm on the case.

At Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 11:16:00 AM PDT , Blogger lime said...

oh dear, i should have made claer in my last comment....i was ON the trip but i did not ride the bicycle all those miles. i was 18 and the youngest member of the group. i was the driver of the support car (a chevy citation into which i crammed all the belongings and necessary accoutrements of 11 people and still could see out the rear window, thank you very much). I did all the cooking, the laundering (and dear me those people can seriously eat and seriously stink after 70 miles a day on a bicycle), and the procuring of lodgings each night.

by the time we hit oregon 3 of us had left the larger group because we were all still in college and were running out of time before the fall semester. we passed thru wagontire and had a bite to eat at the lone building that functioned as genenral store, post office and restaurant...were served by a lady who looked liek she was straight outta a far side comic. took a picture of the sign on the building that said 'wagontire: population-2' we didn't have our first dip in the pacific until northern california when we picked up US 1 which we then followed all the way down the coast to cambria.

thinking about al lthis makes me think of maybe doing a post or a short series of posts on the trip. it was an amazing experience.

JACKIE: You will love this----I used to have a little novelty button thing that was designed to go into a stuffed animal and when you pushed on the shiny steel surface it would play IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL, and I used to threaten my friends with it because they knew that if I went ahead and pushed that button, they were going to have that song stuck in their heads for at least a week.

I got everything I wanted.

When we moved to MI from WI, TRW put us up in an apartment right next to our friends from CA who had moved here (with Trader Joe's) about 10 mos before us.

If that makes sense.

And in CA I was an hour away from my best friend from Hong Kong.

Very small world.
